1st Quarter Newsletter | November 2025 – "RainCommunities - Rainwater Harvesting Formalization in the Central Cardamom Mountain of Phnom Kravanh National Park, Cambodia.
The Raincommunities Project is a 36-months initiative (October 2025–September 2028) implemented by RainWater Cambodia (RWC) in partnership with the International Rainwater Harvesting Alliance (IRHA), with financial support from FGC and SIG Switzerland. The project works in the remote and Central Cardamom Mountain of Phnom Kravanh National Park in Veal Veng District, Pursat Province, to improve access to safe drinking water through sustainable rainwater harvesting solutions.

Key activities and achievements include:
- Planning and Coordination: Supported the development of 3-year rolling WASH Master Plans with local authorities and organized coordination meetings across provincial, district, and commune levels to strengthen stakeholder collaboration.
- Technical Assessments: Conducted water source assessments and engineering surveys for technical design and site selection , alongside school WASH assessments to evaluate target schools' water and hygiene needs.
- Capacity Building and Procurement: Trained WASH focal points in reporting, documentation, and communication skills ; established procurement committees for transparent bidding processes ; and assessed local business owners to boost entrepreneurship and long-term service support.
- Awareness and Gender Equality: Celebrated World Water Day to promote water conservation, climate resilience, and equal participation of men and women in water management. Community voices highlight that rainwater harvesting significantly reduces the daily water-fetching burden on women and girls, allowing them more time for school, income generation, and community decision-making.
